Matchbox 3-6-9 Special

4X4 Mar 5, 2009 10:56 AM

I was at the Chinatown Matchbox a few days ago and saw that on March 6, 2009 they're doing a mini-burger special. 3 for $3, 6 for $6 and 9 for $9.

I'm tempted to take a long lunch and go there, or go after I'm done at the gym and try to find a seat at the bar.

I don't know if they're doing this special at their new location as well.

They are. They have a huge sign at the Eastern Market location advertising the Matchbox Holiday 3/6/09 :)

Oh man... I might have to find someone to go after the party... I really don't think I can miss that. I really love those burgers. It is a relationship frought with desire, goodness and guilt about the time it will take me in the gym to burn them off later.

You can always take 4x4's approach and go to the gym BEFORE heading to Matchbox. :)

maybe I will spend a few more bucks at a time when it willy surely be less slammed?

Weekday lunch then it is :) there is always a wait, except then, but I do imagine they will be overly slammed. They aren't too expensive normally, and definitely worth it.

Weekday lunch has a wait there too. I suggest going at 11:30 or waiting until 1:30 or later. Or go early on a weeknight when there isn't an event at the Verizon Center--if you can get there by 5:30 or 6 you should be fine.

We used to go regularly on Wed. at lunch and never waited for a table of two, although even then the bar was normally full, and we haven't done it since last year, so maybe these lean times have drove more people there. And all these chow recs to people to go there... sigh. At least it means they will stay in business through tough times and I can get my burgers.

You are right though KWynn Washingtonians are very 12:30 lunch centric it seems so if you go a bit before or after that time you are normally good. And luckily there turnover is pretty fast.
