Has anyone been to Hammori's at South Coast Plaza....we're huge fans of Wasa Sushi and wondered how his other restaurant is....what was your favorite items on the menu?

If there is a better Sushi place, (we're big fans of Nobu as well)...that is comparable to Nobu's...where in O.C. would you recommend?

Hamamori? I would suggest Sushi Shibucho or Bluefin by Abe.

Also wanted to back Shibucho and Bluefin, as well as offer Sushi Wasabi.

Yes, I've been. I had an unbelievably delicious meal there, but based on other reviews I've read they seem inconsistent. Not for the sushi purist, which I tend to be, but their sauces (even on sashimi dishes) and kitchen were really up to snuff from what I had.

I feel a lot of the reviews out there are from people who walk in with preconceived notions about restaurants in a mall, so they'll either give it 5 stars because they were really surprised at what a great restaurant it is for a mall or rate it a little low because they can't get over the fact it is just a hop away from Sport Chalet in South Coast Plaza.

In short, definitely worth a shot, though stay away from some of the gimmicky dishes like their Kobe stew and be prepare to lay down a minimum $50/person.
