Dinner near Orpheum Theater

Hi Hounds,

We're going to see Wicked next Wednesday night and looking for a suggestion for a restaurant near the theater for an excellent pre-show meal. My first thought was Canteen, but their seating times disagree with our babysitter! Because of some time constraints, we would like to walk from restaurant to theater. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would definitely recommend Absinthe. Good French fare and really close to the Theatre. I remember it to be not more than 1/2 mile

Oddly, I seem to be suggesting Heaven's Dog to everyone. And I haven't been there. But in this case I can say with authority that it is very close to the Orpheum. Very.

I don't have a specific recommendation, but I would suggest that you consider the Hayes Valley neighborhood. There are a number of nice restaurants there (Jardiniere, Absinthe, Hayes Street Grill, Suppenkuche, etc.) to choose from. They are within walking distance of the Orpheum (or at least as close as Canteen), and many of them are quite accustomed to getting people out the door by curtain time, since they cater to people having dinner before the opera, symphony or ballet.
