Any good primarily veggie places in the core?

In the core per se- Mysore Palace is south Indian and has a lot of veggie options, and there is a pure veg vietnamese place in Chinatown (White Oak 2 I think is its name)... Just outside the core is the cafe in Community Natural Foods which is pure veg...

White Oak 2 also has Chinese dishes.

There's also Veggie House (Chinese) in Chinatown.

I would say both places have decent food (White Oak is a bit better), but they're more takeout places than restaurants. Veggie House is in a food court (west side of Centre St., between 3 and 4 Ave SW), although they will bring your food to your table, and White Oak is in a grungy mall (north side of 3 Ave SE, between Centre St and 1 St SE).

Cafe Koi (asian fusion?) is just outside the core (10 Ave & 1 St SW), and the menu is about half veggie. For a place that serves rice and noodle dishes (and cocktails), it's not cheap, but I love that place...

I can second Mysore Palace. I ordered off the menu rather than getting the buffet when I visited, and really enjoyed it. They have some South Indian dishes that I don't see in a lot of other Indian restaurants; the dosas in particular were deliciously huge.

Also new veggie place opening soon in Kensngton- where Roasterie 2 and then Sushi Zeal were- I hate the name, "Gratitude Cafe," sounds like some goddess-worshiping front :-)

The paper came off the windows today.
Should be open for business soon - looked like a friends and family opening tonight.
          Very modern and chic look.

their menu looks interesting, can't decide whether all the 'I am _____' stuff and general descriptions are cheesy or enlightened...LOL.

It looks- fun. Reminds me of Grapefruit Moon in Toronto, without meat or cigarettes though.

Good prices- REALLY good prices. I'll look forward to checking this place out.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Coup on 17th ave (and between 8 and 9 street) SW. Coup is a vegetarian restaurant.

It is pretty good, but it is very busy. The price is very reasonable and the portion size is decent. Its a great first date restaurant. One thing I hate the most is that they don't accept reservations.

Coup is just superb, one of my favourite places in town, but I figured it's a stretch from "the core" is all.
