Hi there - my boyfriend and I will be visiting SF for a week to see friends and family. While I'm sure they'll have loads of suggestions, we plan to abscond one night for dinner for two. I'd like to have some ideas in my back pocket before we go! What's new and hip? We typically enjoy places with a local, organic focus and excellently curated beer and wine lists. We're also suckers for a place with a righteous playlist (though not too too loud). A perfectly cold martini would be the icing on the cake. Location not super important, though we'll be staying in Pac Heights, and price range think $20 entrees.

without not focusing on your individual specifications, but looking at the overall
"hip place for NYkers looking for date night", Alembic might be a decent choice ...
although it's more of a cocktail focus than food focus, IMHO.

you'll do doubt get recommendation for places like zuni, aziza [kind far from
the center of town] ... but those are not especially "new and hip". beretta maybe.
bar tartine. i dont find bar bambino good value for money. for the martini and
hanging out space, i like bix ... but it's not "new", more "classic".

oh i'll add nopa too ... reasonably close to pac heights, althought not really a nice walk.

you should be able to find lots of discussion about most of these places.

one of the main beer places is monk's kettle ... you could combine beer there
with food at bar tartine.
