Business Trip to Sacramento

I'm headed to Sacramento for a short business trip and will have an afternoon and dinner free while I'm there. Are there any good coffee shops to hang out in during the day and do some reading?

Also, I'll have one solo dinner that night, is there a nice place to have dinner at the bar? I'm open to almost any kind of food, but I'm downtown near the Riverfront without a car, so walking distance or short cab is a must.

Thanks so much!

I really like the coffee at Old Soul (two locations in midtown).

Second Old Soul. For coffee closer to the west side of downtown, try Chocolate Fish.

As far as nice restaurants go, midtown is definitely your best bet. The Waterboy, Biba, and Mulvaney's are among the best Sacramento has to offer.

There is a cafe/coffee shop in front of Macy's in the downtown mall, also a Starbuck right next door.
