Chains in LA that I should try

When I go to NYC, like to do my annual White Castle slider run, Nathans, etc.

Going to LA this month, looking to trying In N Out for the first time since I read about it so much on this board.

Have tried Chipotle, Cheesecake Factory and Wolfgang Puck Cafe.

What other chains close to Disneyland or Universal Studio should I try when I am in LA?

Thanks, everyone. We are back and here's our report.

We had In n Out - Double Double Animal Style and Fries Animal Style. We loved the fries.

Pinkberry was a big hit with our daughters. Same with Cold Stone Creamery - the Cheesecake signature version.

Loved Maggiano's at the Grove. Great service.

Roscoe's chicken and waffles - huge portions and very good southern.

Loved the oysters at Gumbo Pot. So fresh. We purchased every one they had left that day.

Loved Wahoo's Fish Tacos - find it to be a healthy alternative.

Zankou Chicken was a great deal for a quick family dinner.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The only regret was we did not get to try Lawry's prime rib since it was packed the night we went. guess we should have made reservations.

For a yogurt chain, I'd pick Yogurtland any day over Pinkberry. Cheaper, tastier IMO and you get exactly what you want.
On the note of not just LA dessert chains, there's always Beard Papa's too.

definitely cheaper...yogurt is not as good. It's not bad, but it's on the icy side. I mean it breaks off from the machines like churros rather than swirling to a point.

Thanks, everyone. I will try as many as I can.

Love the BBQ suggestion. Is it like tex mex BBQ where you get brisket and ribs. If so, my kids will love it. What do you recommend as the house specialties?

Growing up in LA, my family thought of Chris & Pitts as a rare treat. When the one in North Hollywood was still open, we'd get the whole clan out, and eat untill we would be ill. (okay, not that bad, but still..) That one was a total dive/greasy sppon, but thsat was part of the charm. I miss them quite a bit!

I agree, Wahoo's Fish Tacos, Tommys and of COURSE In-N-Out with a passion to try when you are in Cali. Fries well-done for a heavenly orgasmic experience at I-N-O. CPK I thought was world-wide these days, am I correct? They are different, but I never ever really go out of my way to eat it in LA. (I always enjoy my BBQ ckicken pizza, tho)

Give C&P's a try! I think they are quite good. Have fun while out in LA!

EDIT: I can't belive I forgot to mention both Pioneeer chicken, and Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles! Pioneer used to be a popular chain in the 70's and 80's, and when it was on a good day, it was really damn tasty! I believe there's only 5 or so locations in So Cal any longer, but if you see one, TRY IT. There's one on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, and there might be ones in Orange county as well.

You already have In-N-Out covered......Here's the secret menu:

I may get lambasted for these, but living in the Northern New Jersey, these are not available and I think Del Taco is much better than Taco Bell. I have not been to Wahoo's Fish Tacos, but I have been to Rubio's.

I recommend Poquito Mas, a very small but quite popular Mexican chain that has (what I believe is) its original branch right near Universal Studios. http://poquitomas.com

Also, if your hometown hasn't already been included in its huge national expansion, you should probably give California Pizza Kitchen a try. It has locations all over the city. http://cpk.com/

In N Out...make sure you ask for your fries well done, otherwise you might be disappointed.
