What else is near Dottie's?
We arrive in San Francisco on Wednesday 1st April. After checking into our hotel (Nikko) I thought we would head over for a late brunch/early lunch at Dotties, as it seems so popular on this board. But, I cant see us (me, husband, kids age 7 and 9) waiting in line for hours after flying on a plane for 14 hrs.
So if there is a long line at Dotties, wher else is nearby (walking distance) for a nice, casual, inexpensive lunch for 2 adults, 2 kids? We dont want to go too far from our hotel as we will go back there straight after lunch.
All ideas appreciated!

Johnny Foley's is very close to your hotel - it gets pretty packed but its big so you get seated pretty fast. Plus its got a varied menu so everyone should be able to find something they like. And they've got a full bar and lovely Bloody Marys.
Tian Sing is also quite close and the service is very good. They have good dim sum as well as nice, basic Chinese food.

How brunchy do you mean? There are plenty of lunch places: my picks are Thai or Pearl's burgers (get the buffalo burgers and sweet potato fries, and a few shakes). There is also plenty of Indian, but I don't know how adventurous you and your kids are about your first meal of the day. For a huge variety of easy to stomach choices near the Nikko, head down to the Westfield shopping center's underground food court. I know I said "mall food court," but they do really have some good food down there: an entire hot foods section inside a gourmet-y supermarket including sandwiches, pizza, soups, chili, pastas, sushi, chicken, etc; a seafood restaurant with good mussels or cioppino (Catch), a carvery with tri-tip, a soup shop with about a dozen selections, Mexican that involves more than tacos, a crepery with both sweet and savory choices, etc.
But on Wednesday after noon, Dottie's should not have a line.
