Seeking edible food in Brownsville

I've been to Brownsville a couple of times over the past year for business and have been disappointed with the food options. I like low-key, low-budget Mexican food or seafood. i go for funky over chains. I've been to the Blue Crab and had ceviche and shrimp fried and grilled but my lastest visits to both the Harlingen and Brownsville locations let me down, way down. Can anyone recommend some places to get some good Mexican tacos or seafood? I'll be easing solo so not too divey would be appreciated. I like real Mexican over Tex-Mex.
