Local restaurant for dinner within walking distance of Scottsdale W
Hi there - here on business from NYC and looking for some recs for dinner tonight. I'm staying at the W Scottsdale and would like to walk to somewhere nearby. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I recently attended a meeting at the W and was dismayed to see how challenging it was to walk between the hotel and the rest of Old Town Scottsdale -- largely because there is no sidewalk on the bridge over the canal -- at least not on the same side of the street as the hotel -- and no sidewalk along portions of Scottsdale Road. It's quite puzzling for an area often touted as one of the most walkable districts in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area.
Cowboy Ciao and Digestif are both well regarded and very close. Talk to your concierge about the best walking route or to see if the hotel can drive you the short distance. I'm the first to advocate walking places instead of driving, but the W Hotel's placement east of Scottsdale Rd. makes it surprisingly hard to walk between there and most of the better Scottsdale restaurants.

re: silverbear
Silverbear has a good point. If it were me, I would head South from the W and head down to 5th Avenue or Stetson and then head West and cross Scottsdale Road. Wouldn't try to head out the W entrance and head West, as there aren't sidewalks the whole route.
By doing that too, I think you're going to head toward the area where the better restaurants are as well (imo). Big fan of Digestif, Sea Saw, Fine's Cellar, Kazimerez, Cowboy Ciao. Canal is good too. Haven't been to Estate House. Heard inconsistent reports about Metro Brasserie. For my tastes, the stuff north of the canal isn't on the same level.
