Sushi Yasuda - Going Alone?

Has anyone been to Sushi Yasuda by themselves? I'd like to go but my friends are all cheapsaktes. I'd like to make a reservation for 1 at the bar... will they frown upon such a thing?

You can go to Yasuda or any other sushi place solo. I actually find it best to go alone as you can relate and converse with the sushi chef with no distraction. Sushi is the best food to dine alone with. As a matter of fact, i'm going to go to Bouley Upstairs now for sushi and kaiseki style food all by my lonesome.

Yep, last time I was there I saw a few single diners at the bar, including one who was obviously a regular solo diner.

I agree with the others. You can certainly go by yourself. I was there a few months ago with friends and noticed quite a lot of people sitting at the bar by themselves. Just remember to show up on time because I think they are booked all the time.

Absolutely they will NOT frown upon you. In fact Yasuda is the perfect place for dining alone on the sushi bar. The very zen like atmosphere and quietness will be perfect for your sushi bar enjoyment. I would never feel uncomfortable dining anywhere alone-ever!

i'm often uncomfortable eating alone at a "high-end" place, but not at yasuda. the sushi bar is conducive to that in the first place, but Yasuda-san in partidular engages customers so well it's a pleasure.
