Pasadena - Family Place with Character for Baptismal Celebration?
Hello fellow Chowhounders....
My wife and I will be baptizing our son in April at a church in Pasadena. We have some friends and family coming into town for the big event and wanted some suggestions for a good multi-generational place for a celebratory early supper after the event.
any suggestions? i'm guessing our party will be between 10 and 12 people (including the 8-month old, so the place should be relatively baby-friendly). We want a nice-ish place, though... no "family dining" chains, please...
I would consider Dish in La Canada. Nice atmosphere for an occasion such as yours...feels like you're dining in someone's home. Food and service are a bit inconsistent, but always from pretty good to very very good.

Celestino is a terrific Italian place, consistently good, and they can certainly deal with a baby. Mike & Anne's in South Pasadena has a lovely outdoor area that is nice for early dinners. El Portal is a Mexican place across from Vroman's that's good if you stick to the Yucatan specialties; you can sit outside, and it's very baby-friendly.
