We ate last night at Sohna Punjab Indian Restaurant in Bellerose Queens - 248-03 Union Turnpike - site of the former "Bombay Sizzler". The place was very nice - clean, well lighted, seemed recently renovated and/or painted. Service was very friendly. The menu is quite extensive, we were particularly impressed by the number of vegetarian dishes. We had the Vegetable Assorted Mixed Pakora for appetizer - a very nice selection included fried eggplant, paneer (cheese) cauliflower - all in a light crispy crust - much better than some of the heavy fired appetizers I've had at other places. Main course - Sag paneer, Lamb Vindaloo, and Chicken Keema Mutter. Also very good breads - Onion Kulcha and Garlic Naan. My son and I had mango lassis, others in our party had Taj Mahal beer. They also brought us complimentary rice pudding for dessert. Total cost for 4 people - about $70. We plan to go back again - there are a lot of interesting dishes to work our way through on the menu.
