Live Oysters in SD

Does anyone have suggestions on where to buy live oysters - not at a bar but a place I can take home and shuck myself. I see them at Ranch 99 but would like some confirmation that they are good first.

How is Point Loma Seafood to buy fresh fish? I keep wanting to venture down from Carlsbad but don't know if it's worth it.

Pt. Loma Seafood is terrific. Great selection albeit pricey. But in the No. County you're better off going to "deli counter" in the Fish Market in Solana Beach. The prices are better and the selection is as almost as good. Remember that they sell anything on the menu, so don't be limited to just what's on display.

If you live in CB why not fish house VC ? they really have a good selection. Not sure about shellfish though, we usually get them at the fish market, usually a very good selection. Jimbos and Cardiff seaside have decent fish albeit a bit pricey. Pt. loma seafood did not wow me enough to make a special trip down there from no. county.

I've been to vera cruz once and I thought the place was disgusting. I wouldn't step foot back in there. Jimbo's is way over priced on everything. I don't understand why people shop there. I usually go to Pelly's in Carlsbad but was curious if there is anything else I was missing. Thank you for the suggestions though.

Jimbo's might be overpriced on fish but they are a good, relative cheap alternative to WF/Henry's for organic stuff

Bay Park Fish Company off of Morena Ave. Everything looks just off the boat.

Fishery in PB usually has 2-3+ differnet types. I have had good luck with ones from the Ranch as well.

Whole Foods has a good selection (just saw some in LJ, and bought some in Hillcrest for NY Eve) For a larger party, we ordered some from The Better Half Shell - a wholesale place in Point Loma. Google it, or call Catalina Offshore - they referred us there.
