Recommendations for place in London, Ontario to hold shower - private room with buffet.

Hi, I am from Toronto, and in April will be organizing a bridal shower for about 30 people in London, Ontario. I want a place that has a private room where we can order a buffet and then after eating we can push some tables together and crowd around to watch the bride open her gifts. I would like suggestions from people who have actually held or attended such an event, rather than suggestions of places that might have such facilities available. Being in toronto cannot really run around to check places out so would like to narrow it down to testimonials!! Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I would have thanked you sooner, but didn't realize I had received replies, I am new to this board and thought that I would get an email if anyone replied. Anyway, balated thanks!!!!!

OK - I've been here for dinner, never for an event.... but they have private rooms at the Auberge du Petit Prince. The space is elegant and pretty - really very shower-esque. And the food is also very good. They have specifics about rooms and rentals on their web site:

Since you haven't gotten any responses, I'll try to help you out. I've never been to a bridal shower in London but I lived there for 4 years.

I've been to a private function for around 30 people at Aroma, downtown just off Richmond St. We only had appetizers and a cash bar (Mediterranean food). We had our own room and easily could have moved stuff around to open presents. The food is fine and I'm sure they would do a buffet dinner. The main restaurant has nice high ceilings, although I remember that the area we were in had lower ceilings, but it was cosy not cramped. The owner was extremely helpful when we were trying to organize the event.

Bertoldi's Trattoria (also downtown off Richmond) has a private room although I've never been inside so I don't know how many people it can accommodate. The restaurant is nice and it was one of the places I frequented (very regularly) while living in London. It's simple italian food, mid-range.

I've been to a dinner for 15 people at Garlic's (also downtown off Richmond) and we were seated in the smaller room of the restaurant which if I remember correctly could probably seat 30 people (we were at one of two large tables). I didn't find the food that great, nor particularly garlicky, but I know lots of Londoners that love it. The atmosphere would be nice for a bridal shower, as the room has a big window looking out onto the street so there would be sunlight if the event was during the day.

I've been to a private dinner for 20 at Tru Restaurant (farther downtown, near the John Labbatt centre). Its a beautiful place with great food, but it is a bit pricier. I would bet they could accommodate you and the restaurant has a great vibe.

As I said, I've never attended such an event at any of these places so you'll have to call and inquire whether they do buffets and whether they are open for lunch or afternoon events.

        Hope this helps!
