Dinner/Drinks near GW? Non-trendy...

We're going to see a show at the Lisner auditorium, and I've never really spent time in that area. Looking for a good, reasonably priced place to grab some food and drinks before the show. Don't want to end up paying for overpriced stuff at a packed, college haunt.

We like contemporary, mexican, italian, asian (not Kas Sushi though because of allergies)...

Please - suggestions.

Things are usually pretty packed around there..... Founding farmers is good all around IMHO, Tonic has decent bar fare and is a little nicer than the typical college bars. Circle Bistro is close by and never packed but may be too trendy.

I 2nd Tonic (I remember a good mac and cheese...plus they have tater tots!). Not too far away is also Taberna del Alberdero if you want excellent tapas. You can sit at the bar and get tapas and Sangria (plus if you are going M-F you can partake in their 1/2 off happy hour deal).

For cheap beer and burgers there is always Lindys. It's a traditional GWU spot, but its not overpriced at all. Very affordable.

Lindy's has amazing burgers!! especially the one with the refried beans.... plus they have great beers. I love tonic's bartender though.... although his name is slipping my mind atm.
