In my experience, you can only pick 2 of 3:

A) Good
B) Asian
C) Buffet

D)All of the above is not an option.

Friends don't let freinds eat Asian Buffets.

Seriously, if cost is no object, go to one of the hundreds of sushi bars mentioned or one of the great Asian seafood restaurants in Little Saigon.

You won't spend that much more and you will be so much happier!

There's always the O-Nami Japanese Seafood Buffet at the Laguna Hills Mall:

Laguna Hills Mall
24155 Laguna Hills Mall, Ste 1300
Laguna Hills, CA 92653
tel. 949-768-0500

I have never been, but my mother, who is Japanese, thinks it's a good value. Not very close to Newport Beach though.

I agree with Professor Salt. "Good Asian Buffet" as a phrase is an oxymoron. The last time I went to one was in Lake Forest. It was called Dragon Buffet.

That was the first and last time I will ever go there. While I did not find their food objectionable, the hostess who you have to pay before you enter the establishment was unbelievably rude. Since it was almost a year ago, I've forgotten the details of the incident, but I do remember my girlfriend being incredibly P.O.'d after that initial encounter the entire night. She hardly ate a thing.
