Sorry I just didn't get around to deciding quicker as to what to take for tonight as a hostess gift, either to drink now or for new cellar.

2005 Rombauer Cab, 2004 Heitz Cellers Cab, or 2006 Shafer Merlot

Had the 2004 Rombauer & Shafer & loved them. Haven't had a Heitz in a few years but don't recall being wowed as I was with the others (may be because it's been a while?).

Thanks.

i'm a huge fan of the Rombauer, i'd be extremely appreciative if someone gave it to me...of course if i had it on hand, i'd want to keep it for myself ;)

any idea if your hostess has a preference between Cab & Merlot?

Don't think friends have a preference. DH & I have been on a pinot kick for the last few years but if somebody were to give me the Rombauer Cab, I'd be appreciative too!

Which Heitz is it? Standard grocery store Heitz or something a little more exciting (like a Martha's Vineyard?

Assuming standard Heitz (sorry, dont know what else to call it), I would choose the Shafer merlot.

Thank you for your lightning quick responses, went with the Rombauer. Figured, can't go wrong with it or the Shafer & it was 5 bucks less :)
