Brigantine Del Mar for Sunday brunch. Nice view, good selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch items. (Cheap) bubbly included.

best in La Jolla is Mission Coffee Cup on Wall. No view, but great food, great prices.

Pacifica Breeze Cafe and Americana in Del Mar are both good. Pacifica has the view.

Brockton Villa, get there a few minutes ahead and put your name in, and then get your folks, you can't beat the view, directly above the cove. You could alsotry the potato shack in Solana Beach, it is on the Greasy spoon side, and the food is very good, and afterwards you can walk around the community or the beach.

The Naked Cafe up near Del Mar, actually in Solana Beach, is very casual and beachy but has very good food. The pancakes are really excellent. Just off the Coast Highway on the beach side but no ocean view.

Up in Del Mar, the Del Mar Plaza has a breakfast place run by the people at Pacifica, called the Breeze. Casual outdoors place, fairly popular with the locals. Not real ambitous menu but decent and a good view of the ocean.

Daily's on Prospect in LJ, good for breakfast, also Harry's on Girard, old school and busy all the time but, the line go fast. If you want to take a short trek to PB there's Broken Yolk on Garnet, excellent comfort style breakfast.

The Cottage, Harry's, Cody's, Brockton Villa in the Village of La Jolla all have long waiting times on the weekend. Could do late Mexican breakfast at Alfonso's or Jose's. Or head down to La Jolla Shores and try outdoor patio at either Piatti (again, later around 11) or Barbarella (earlier breakfast hours).

Clay's on top of Hotel La Jolla? Think it may be closed. Drove by on Torrey Pines on Monday and noticed every room on every floor on both sides of building had sliding glass doors wide open and curtains being taken down. Maybe another sale or redo on the property. Forgot about Coffee Cup ad Bernini's, good call. OP said nothing fancy, so I left out Shores.

It still shows Clays on the Hotel LJ website..maybe airing the place out..
How is Piatti's or Barbarella for breakfast?
When Deepak Chopra was in LJ, I would see him almost every morning at Bernini's getting his coffee..nice man.
The Shores fancy..when did that happen? That was always the ugly step sister of the LJBTC.
Come on In is another good choice.

The Cottage in La Jolla, although there is usually a wait, rocks at breakfast. You won't be disappointed.
