Au pied de Cochon bad experience

A few days ago my in-laws had a reservation at Pied de Cochon but the restaurant cancelled on them without calling to notify under the pretext that they were doing the Cabane à sucre thing. My in-laws were coming from out of town for this and it was a very special occasion. THey found out about the cancellation by accident - they called to know if they could change the time of the reservation. Furious they asked to speak to a superior who did not even try to make it up to them. Come back in three weeks is what they said. Lame! Needless to say they will not be going back to that place any time soon.

I want to know if this has happened to anyone here before, if it is standard standard procedure at PDC to treat people like sh!t because they can afford to. I didnt even know it was possible to cancel a reservation...

    1. I imagine it is possible to cancel do to any number of unforeseen reasons. Yet what is disappointing is hearing you were not notified.

I am trying Pied de Cochon for the first time shortly. And being it is a four or five hour drive away I better call and confirm first. LOL

That thread has nothing about reservations or really anything relating to service; it's mostly on people's opinion on whether or not APDC can do seafood.

              • Not sure I understand what you mean by "under the pretext that they were doing the Cabane à sucre thing". The cabane a sucre is not even open yet, so they couldn't have mistaken the reservation for being there, as I take it to mean. Or do you mean they closed the restaurant so the staff could spend time preparing the cabane a sucre?

You really need to clarify the reasoning they were given. Verbatim, if possible.
