Wu's Cafe, Sterling

Hope springs eternal out here in the western 'burbs of DC. Wu's Cafe just opened in Sterling in a building across the street from the GrandMart on Rt. 7. We went in hoping, against all probability, that it might have something more exciting than Cantonese-American or other Chinese-American standbys. We need ma la out here in Herndon/Reston/Sterling!

Sadly, it does not seem to be a Chowhound destination at this time. What Wu's has is mostly very ordinary. There's an entire Egg Fu Yung section on its menu. It is clearly geared for carryout; when we ate in, everything came on foam plates and in foam containers. Tea was served in styrofoam cups. Infomercials played on the wall-mounted TV.

The one highlight to our meal was a noodle soup with pickled greens, which was tasty in a well-flavored broth.

We felt the preparation of all the dishes was competent, so they might be a reasonable option for delivery/carryout Chinese if you have unadventurous friends.
