Best fried chicken in Phx/ Scottsdale

Can anyone recommend a restaurant or store that sells outstanding fried chicken? To go? I live in the Shea / Tatum area and the situation seems bleak. The Colonel has an outlet 6 miles away or there is Fry's grocery. Help. Thanks.

  1. Stacey's BBQ at 17th St and Indian School has really good fried chicken after 3pm on weekday's. It's probably better to call ahead, as the place is small and orders can take a while.

    Stacy's BBQ Smokehouse
1650 E Indian School Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85016

    1. I've heard Mrs. White's Golden Rule has great fried chicken but I know her grandson has amazing fried chicken at LoLo's Chicken and Waffles. Some of the best I've ever had.

Completely agree with LoLo's! Was there recently after the Celtics game with my gf and had the #1 with an extra chicken breast. The fried chicken was crispy, seasoned and very moist. Best 3000 calories I spent on one plate. Make that two plates...ordered the red velvet too!

      2. The Roaring fork does a wonderful fried chicken the peppercorn gravy.
Harolds in Cave Creek does a good friend chicken as well....

        1. Noca does wonderful fried chicken occasionally as part of its Simple Sunday Suppers. The problem, though, is that the OP wants chicken to go in a specific part of town, and i just can't think of anything except KFC and supermarket delis. Places like Popeye's and independent soul food restaurants are usually in grittier parts of town than Tatum & Shea.

Guido's Deli on Scottsdale and Shea make a wonderful Broasted Chicken...
I always forget about this place....

Astute observation by Silverbear. As you head north and east from the intersection of the 51 and Indian School, you have trouble finding a certain category of food and food places; i.e. no " ...berto's" type burrito joints, fried chicken joints, etc. Gyro Express is the closest I can think of good "joint" type food.

            2. Thanks for the Stacey's BBQ tip. My friend was in their neighborhood yesterday and brought back some fried chicken. It is excellent. And my friend, who is a native of Kansas City and a true BBQ fan, reports that the pulled pork sandwich was outstanding.

Glad you enjoyed it. We love Stacey's meats. I got the fried chicken on a whim the first visit as a side to my ribs and wished I'd gotten all fried chicken instead. This is despite the fact I loved the ribs, too.
