Quick drink before Keens?

We're going to Keens tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm. I'll probably get there at least 30-45 min early and was wondering if there was anywhere nearby to grab a decent priced drink/glass of wine beforehand. I'll be coming from 50th street so anywhere between there and the restaurant (36th) would be convenient. Let me know and thanks in advance!

The Galway Hooker pub is across the street, you could pop in there, it's quite good fun.

Absolutely positively agree! If it must be someplace else then there's always something Bryant Parkish - Grill, Hotel.

i agree...if you're dining in the main room at Keens, you should have your pre-dinner drink in the bar and you''ll be able to enjoy that room for a bit as well...

Me too. For ambience you can't beat the painting behind the bar... and they always have interesting wines by the glass and fantastic martinis served by excellent if sometimes surly bartenders (but that's part of the whole schtick). Only thing is, it is not cheap, but if you're having dinner in the main room I'm guessing you can afford it.

having a scotch at the bar is how i begin every meal of mine at keens...just perfect.

splurge for the lagavulin 25 year distillers edition...
