Kennedy Fried Chicken in Olneyville Square is fairly good. Light- no heavy greasy feeling with interestingly spiced batter.
Chartley Country store out in Rehoboth (there's another in Norton which I've never visited) also light -a little dryer (some people like that especially for cold leftovers and picnics). The Chartley Store chicken has a very crunchy batter. It's a convenience store so you probably want to take it somewhere to eat it. Also check out their fascinatingly huge cuts of meat (think Flintstones opening credits.) -
I was surprised at how crisp and tasty the fried chicken is at Angelo's Civita Farnese on Federal Hill in Providence.
