wedding anniversary at the bazaar - a mistake?

i made reservations at the bazaar at sls hotel for my wedding anniversary next month after reading the la times review. big mistake? or should i give it a chance? i haven't really heard anything really complimentary on this board, which is making me get second thoughts about this. i want it to be really special, so bleh is not an option. thanks for any recs.

  1. My 2 cents': Go romantic, don't follow "the scene". You can do "the scene" any other weekend of the year.

I'd recommend Hotel Bel Air. I know I know... the food is not stellar, but the surroundings more than make up for any minor deficiencies.

By the way, I thought my meal at Bazaar was worth 2.5 to 3.0 stars, certainly not 4, and Mrs. J.L. (from Madrid) concurs.

thanks for the rec. i certainly don't want to be in the doghouse. ;)

    2. This is tough. How old are you? How long have you been married? Where are you "best" meals? I LOVE the Bazaar...but all of the other factors matter.

        1. The place is beautiful, food tasty and sexy (from Blanca menu), crowd sophisticated, drinks delicious. Order their special cocktails or a pitcher of Red Sangria to share. Ask to move to the Patisserie section for desserts. It'll be a memorable anniversary dinner for sure.

          1. It's a really fun meal. The food is very playful and there were definitely some big hits (the philly cheesesteak, the lamb, the veal cheeks, the specialty martinis), but there were also some misses (the just shrimp cocktail, the toro). I'd prefer somewhere quieter that's less of a scene, but it depends on what you're looking for. It really is not all that expensive so I don't think it necessarily has to be only a special occasion meal.
