Exhibition kitchen for solo dinner in SF

In the city for one night by myself, and normally try and eat at Boulevard as I love sitting overlooking the kitchen and observing the chefs at work. Wanted to try something else out and was hoping for a recommendation.

Thanks

This may be late but one of my favorites is table 16 (or close to it) at Zuni Cafe. Just have t be sure you get the right table there.

You could try a seat at the bar at Canteen. It is a very tiny restaurant serving excellent food with the bar right on top of the crew's work space. The chef, Dennis Leary, actually works, rather than "supervising"

Just what I was going to say. Canteen is just what you want; when you make your reservation, ask for a seat at the bar on the kitchen side of the bar. Granted, the restaurant is tiny, so even if you're on the other side you won't be that far away, but if you're on the kitchen side you'll be up very close.

the bar (not the liquor bar) overlooking the cooking and ovens at A-16 is pretty neat - and often you meet an interesting person to chat with about the food :)
