I'll throw one more recommendation out there - Scratch Bakery in South Portland. Just wonderful!

The triple layer chocolate cake at Silly's is old school chocolate cake goodness although I recall a pumpkin spice cream cheese one that was delicious too.

I had one of the best cakes I ever had from Two Fat Cats Bakery. We ordered a red velvet cake for my birthday. A bit pricey, but excellent. I think it's owned by the same folks that own the Standard Bakery, also in Portland, of which I've heard good things as well.

I have never had a cake as good as the one I recently had that was made at Dollaro's. Seriously.
