Cold Spring, NY?

  • 7

Hi Chowhounders,

ISO a great gift for my Manhattanite sister... I hear good things about Cold Spring- any Inn/dining recs? I'd like to get a weekend of gift certificates together for her and her man. They appreciate the finer things, and love to feel like insiders (sound familiar?).

    1. Coldspring is a great town! Cathry's has great tuscan food and carries a wine inventory of over 2000 bottles. If your sister is spending the night a CAN"T MISS is the belgain waffles at The Foundry Cafe. I haven't been to Les Bouchon (French) but it does have a great Zagat rating and alot of people have mentioned enjoying dinner there. My favorite for dessert is off of Main Street at a restaurant called Riverview, they make the best bread pudding! It's alittle pricey(aprox.9.00) but well worth it

      1. I would definitely recommend Les Bouchon. Their food has always been wonderful, and I love their pomme frites, especially with their mustard! So delicious.

i'm laughing at myself. i've sailed to cold spring harbor dozens of times and i've never gone ashore. i usually sail in from stamford on sunday, drop the hook and read the new york times, have some homemade nibbles and get back on the tide. i'll follow your recommendations. driving there sounds like a good idea now.

Wrong Cold Spring!! There is Cold Spring, NY, which is on the Hudson and Cold Spring Harbor, NY, which is on the Long Island Sound...the above post was for the one on the Hudson! You can still drive there, but go north instead of east!
