New Soup Kitchen - Tiger Lily's on Mt Pleasant
Just opened, new evolutionary result of the old Wanda's in the Kitchen with Dinah space, serving casual daily menus with some of the classic soups that Dinah has done over the years. As it seems to be the catering kitchen for her operations, there will probably be many interesting things coming up. Looking forward to see what they do, and having another Peking duck quesadilla.

Has anyone had good experiences dining in at Tiger Lily's new incarnation?
Have the soups improved since the first reviews a couple months ago?

I haven't been but Joanne Kates gave it a mixed review a few weeks ago. I will still try it though. Here's the review. Note she was positive about a little hole in the wall called Ph St. Clair which I have yet to try -- it's closer to me so I'll probably head there first...

i live across the street! when we signed the lease i bought a date square for me and and cheese for my fiance from wanda's/dinah's to celebrate! i am excited by the new sit-down food options so close to home but will be sad to see the quick access to overpriced pie and free samples. will report back soon. oh, and i can see the wanda's has dropped from the sign...no new sign yet. with this and Le Gourmand I have a busy new foodie weekend!

re: Snarf
so we ran across the street in the rain today and picked up some stuff from Dinah's Soup kitchen. FI got the kobe pastrami sandwich, loved it, really enjoyed the bread. I grabbed an "Eastern Spiced Black Bean Soup" from the fridge, and I was thoroughly dissapointed, especially considering it was $7.85 for one large or 1 1/2 average sized serving...it was on the thin side, had just black beans, sliced peppers of various colours and some tomatoes - no corn or other beans, and the broth tasted quite like standard chicken stock. the PC Blue Menu Black Bean soup is more flavourful than this was! i want to love this place because I really love soup, but I can't justify spending four times what i would for better stuff from a can. sigh.

By "new evolutionary result of the old Wanda's in the Kitchen with Dinah space", do you mean that Tiger Lily has opened where Wanda's in the Kitchen with Dinah was?
Seems odd, given than back in January, Dinah shut down her retail operation there to concentrate on catering, and Wanda stayed in the location (or so someone reported here on CH at the time). So now Wanda's out, and Dinah has reopened it as a new Tiger Lily?

re: gregclow
I had to check this place out..seeing as I have nice memories of her old restaurant on queen west.
Ordered a bowl of pho...and indeed it was flavorful, with big chunks of tofu (instead of chicken). I was happy.
My dining companion had a bowl of pho with lemomgrass, coconut milk and salmon...and there were no complaints either. LOL.
The place is cheerful, with several tables and for sure will be returning.
