Lunch spots close to I 5

parisbully Feb 24, 2009 01:52 PM

We will be traveling up I 5 to Seattle in a few weeks. Looking for a lunch spot close to the freeway just a little north of Portland. Not a chain. Just somewhere we can get a beer and a good sandwich - or small plate. And, the beer is for me, not the driver.

I like La Tarasca in Centralia. It's about half-way to Seattle distance-wise, but usually less than half-way time wise from Portland, since you hit it before the Puget Sound traffic

I'll second that recommendation--it's an excellent family-run Mexican place, and I think it's about one mile east of the freeway on the main drag. I believe that it's closed on Tuesdays.

La Tarasca is the unanimous Chowhound Choice. I make the Seattle-Portland run quite regularly, and there is absolutely no alternative. It is a must-do. Period. You will thank us. Really.
