Papa Murphy's: Share Your Experiences...

I've been getting coupons from this company for ages. Their prices look attractive, and the thought of having pizza straight out of the oven, at home, is appealing. The bake at home pie from Costco is fine, and the quantity is close to overwhelming.

Using that as a standard, is Papa Murphy's take 'n bake better or worse? Their large combo is $11, so I might try it in the interim and share notes.

  1. We love PMP (as we affectionately call them). Have been eating their Delites for a few years now. I don't think you'll be one bit disappointed. Mmmm.

    1. It depends. If you like the take home pie from Costco, you'll have no problem with Papa Murphy's. Is it better? A matter of taste as far as the basic Pepperoni, or cheese, or supreme go. I find either place a small step above frozen for those pies.
      The Papa Murphy's Gourmet Chicken Garlic is very good. Love the garlic sauce.
      The DeLite Chicken, Bacon, Artichoke is a freakin masterpiece for a cheap pizza.
      I'm probably exagerating cause I'm hungry right now, but I love both these pies.
      I should note that I'm not a huge fan of red sauce pizza's, unless they are from a good local Italian place with a damn good red sauce, crust, and cheese. I can't do any of the chains. They just simply suck. Des Moines has lots of Italian places that do pizza right, but when I'm in the mood for a little different, more, and cheap, it's those two pies from Papa's.

        Well, we too are addicted to the DeLite CBA also. LOVE IT!!!!

          Yeah, I was shocked. My GF talked me into it. Sometimes she is sooo right. Making me go see Bernard Allison was the best thing she ever talked me into, the CBA is currently 2nd.

          The gourmet veggie is also great - the garlic sauce makes all the difference. The crust is okay but nothing to write home about - wish they offered whole wheat or herb.

            Agree. It is just an ok platform. They could take it up a level very easily.
            A franchise that still has potential.

My family and I loved our local P.M.'s for years, but over the past four years the store closest to us has had a decline in the quality of the product they serve and a lack of management present in the evening to correct issues in a timely fashion (same day resolve) has been quite the turn-off. The P.M.'s in the city over are fine so it must be something to do with how the stores are being run in our area. It's sad, my family and I were once loyal customers, but now we get our pizzas elsewhere.

            The town we used to live in had two PMs and one was like what you describe. We took one pizza back completely uneaten and there was so much sauce it had soaked completely through the thin crust. But the other was still good so we just drove a few miles further.

          2. The papa murphys in our town is outstanding! The garlic chicken pizza is delish, but I do like a red sauce on my pizza. I really like their sauce, it has a little kick to it, like it has red pepper flakes in it (but I don't think it does). The amount of cheese and meats they put on them are ridiculous, and the family size is HUGE! PM is one of our favorites!! Do try it!!
