Outer Banks

My husband and I are vacationing in the Outer Banks this April. Does anyone have any suggestions on where we must go? We were there a few years ago but are open to dining suggestions. We are looking for low end, high end and any markets that are a must (we have a kitchen where we are staying).

  1. Mama Kwan's is a must. They have an amazing Hawaiian pork plate, served with asian cucumber salad and jasmine rice. It's a tiki-bar atmosphere with lots of fruity drinks in special mugs, and we go there every time we're in town (sometimes twice) It's in Kill Devil Hills at mile post 9.5

    1. You might want to start by doing a search on'll find tons of suggestions that way. Also, unless you are willng to drive very long distances, you need to narrow down where you will be staying and/or eating a little bit, because the Outer Banks are about 100 miles from north to south.

We are staying in Nags Head and are willing to drive in either direction. We are debating an overnight down near Beaufort as well. I have searched the boards of course, but the information is not very recent, so I'm wondering if there are any new suggestions.

I recently ate at Tortugas Lie in Nags Head and wasn't very impressed. The Pelican in Ocracoake is very good, but thats a long way from Nags Head. Sam and Omies has a great reputation, but its been several years since I ate there. Aqua in Beaufort is excellent.

I just did a search for Nags Head and pulled up at least 10 threads with posts from the last 6 months, so I'm not sure why you're having trouble finding current information.
