Pining for Kimchee Ramen like OJA used to make

There's a restaurant in Toronto on Yonge St, just south of Bloor on the east side called OJA. In a previous incarnation (when they had giant papier-mache mushrooms hanging from the ceiling) they made a killer kimchee ramen soup in a bowl that was guaranteed to chase away a cold.

They moved the decor in a more conservative direction and scotched a bunch of things on the menu, and it's just not the same any more.

Can anyone recommend a good place in/around Toronto for a big bowl of spicy kimchee ramen (pref w/chicken)?

  1. I guarantee it's probably a recipe like jarred kimchi, shin ramen, and some fixings. Something you could easily do at home. I haven't ever seen a korean place serve up ramen from scratch in town before. Heck I don't even know where you get ramen from scratch in this town for sure except Ema Tei I think?

    Having said that, I enjoy the ramens at Tokyo Kitchen and Konichiwa a lot but I think I was told by posters here that they're made from instant? I'm pretty sure any "diner" style korean place would have something like this on the menu.

    Try Yummy BBQ (I think that's what it's called) south of Wellesley on yonge near the YMCA.
