Best place for happy hour near the Ahmanson Theater

I know about Nic and Stefs, but want to see what other options are out there. Good food is more important than cheap drinks. If it's walking distance to the theater, that's even better.

  1. Not within walking distance, but Arnie Morton's on Figueroa between 7th and 8th has a happy hour from 5 pm to 6:30 pm with good food. Mini-burgers, crabcakes, oysters on the half-shell, blue cheese fries, etc. for 5-6 per plate. There is a shuttle from Morton's to the Ahmanson.

McCormick and Schmick's also has a happy hour with a $1.95 menu. I've never been, but it's been recommended. It is at the end of Hope (at the top of the hill above the Library), so whether that is within walking distance is debatable. McCormick and Schmick's also has a shuttle. I don't know the exact hours.

Thanks for the suggestions. Neither of those places are within walking distance, which is fine. While McCormick does have really good deals, their food is way below average. Morton's sounds good but wish the HH would run a little longer than 6:30.

    2. Ciudad has a happy hour from 4-7 Monday thru Saturday and a shuttle to and from the Ahmanson. Also, Kendall's Brasserie is right there below the Taper on Grand and, if memory serves, has a happy hour as well.

      1. The Library Bar or The Redwood are worth a look......Weiland may be too long a walk but the food is pretty good and what prices!
