Gramercy Tavern - Worth the trip?
I am staying in Weehawken for a meeting and have a free night to venture into the city. I will likely take the ferry in and try to find my way around to a place with top notch food and even more top notch beers.
Would it be pretty easy to get to this place and if not, is it still worth it? I have heard wonderful things and figure now that I have the time to go, why not.
Also, I would guess that a solo diner would be able to grab some grub and some beer at a bar?
Thanks a lot.
Wanted to report back that I did go and all the hype for this place was warranted.
Awesome tap beers, great bottle list and amazing food.
I went with the octopus, carrot and calimari salad and the grilled cauliflower and several of the beers on tap.
Great, just great. Can't wait to go back.
Glad you enjoyed your meal. I ate at GT with my girlfriend a month ago and had the most enjoyable restaurant meal of my life there. While other restaurants may serve slightly more exciting food, GT is the total package of excellent food and service; few restaurants can come close to matching GT in that regard.
I am not sure how close it is to the ferry landing, but Gramercy Tavern is generally pretty easy to get too. I also do not know about the beer list, but the food is excellent. You can certainly eat at the bar, where you will be served the more casual Tavern Menu, not quite the same level as the dining room food, but you will have a great meal!
Also consider the Spotted Pig, which is a little more casual and lively.
