I gave in to temptation and bought the frozen Butter Chicken entree at TJ's yesterday, and made it for dinner last night. The rice was fairly blah - next time I'll steam my own jasmine rice and toss what came in the TJ's package - but the entree itself was WONDERFUL. The frozen naan was also good.

Are the other Indian entrees as good as the Butter Chicken? And is the fresh naan as good (or better) than the frozen? It felt a little stale in the package, which is why we opted for the frozen.

I've heard good things about the frozen naan, but I've never tried it. I did try the fresh naan and it left a lot to be desired. The frozen is supposed to be better, from what I've heard.

I like a lot of the Indian entrees at Trader Joe's, the ones that come in a box and are not frozen. I also really love the veggie masala burgers.

I recommend you do try the frozen naan. It's one of my TJ's staples, stays fresh in the freezer, and warms up in the oven in a flash.

The vindaloo was horrid
The veggies in it were cubed carrots and peas. Pretty pathetic. The chicken and sauce were much better than the butter chicken, imo. But, I thought the butter chicken was pretty bad. I do, have in my posession the "vegetarian thali" which we'll be trying soon. I have high hopes, but, well, come on, all of the shelf stable Indian food realy is not very good. It just seems like a great idea in theory. Most of it tastes the same to me. Has kind of a chef boy-ar-dee like flavor to me - all of them.
Side note - I also tried the frozen mussaman thai curry. Inedible.

The curried lentils with rice is amazingly delicious (for frozen food). So good that when I nuked it in the work microwave, several people asked "what *is* that"? It smells great and tastes even better.

I picked up the paneer w /spinach rice. Will report back.

I like their frozen naan too. I only wish we had a TJs closer, I think we would eat it every day if we did!

I second the Butter Chicken (just had it for lunch) and the Paneer Tikka Masala --it is awesome, just wish it contained more paneer. I also like the frozen garlic naan, but NOT the fresh naan in the bread section. There other indian frozen entrees are very good too. I'm referring to the ones in rectangular boxes, not the round ones.
