What other restaurants would I like?

krystle920 Feb 23, 2009 07:33 AM

There have been a lot of restaurant recommendation request threads on this board, but I'm beginning to realize that it's really hard to define what one enjoys in a restaurant. Given that, I figure it might be better if I just give you a list of restaurants I really like in Manhattan and without describing the specifics of my taste, ask my fellow chowhounders for restaurant recommendations.

-Shake Shack
-Hill Country BBQ
-Flor de Mayo
-La Lanterna

Given the above, which other restaurants do you think I will like?

If you like the pollo a la brasa at Flor de Mayo, try the pollo a la brasa at El Malecon and see what you think of it.

i would also highly recommend the chicken at pio pio salon on 94th and amsterdam. there are locations elsewhere in the city, but both el malecon and flor de mayo are located on the uws.

Thanks, I've actually tried Pio Pio already and it is pretty good! Reasonably priced too.

Blue Smoke for burgers. They use the same beef as Shake Shack, but the burgers are much thicker.

      Definitely Daisy May's BBQ.

I tried Blue Smoke, but the taste seems a bit more ordinary and not as flavorful as Shake Shack. Will definitely try Daisy May's one of these days!

Cafe Habana, Calle Ocho, R.U.B., 5 Napkin, Five Guys, Pink Teacup and Cuba should also be on your radar.

I second R.U.B. Add Paladar to the list.

I've tried Cafe Habana and I liked it. Calle Ocho was a bit too expensive. Five Guys didn't really blow me away when I tried it in DC. Looking at the menu, Cuba seems a bit expensive for its genre. Will check out RUB and 5 Napkin.
