Has anyone visited this spot recently? I noticed there hasn't been any reports for a long while and the menu online looks good.

Was there about a month ago and a few weeks before that. As good as always- reliably consistent. Nice people, good service, tasty food.

Recently as in a few months ago - we've been 2-3 times in the past year - each time, pretty downright excellent - a real under-rated gem in Newton.

Bob, I agree. Truly Kouzina is under-rated.
My wife & I love Kouzina. Probably eat there once a month, last time about 2 weeks ago. They are what a great neighborhood place should be - tasty, interesting food, friendly staff & good service. Last & not least: reasonable prices.
Another under-rated spot in the western suburbs is Sweet Basil in Needham. To give you an idea of how much people like this place, last weekend there were approx. 15-20 people waiting OUTSIDE* for a table at 7pm on a Sat. evening !!! That's true love. They offer hearty & tasty food that is priced right. And they are a BYOB.

          * they don't accept reservations, it's strictly first come, first served. And by the way, no credit cards.

It's our go-to neighborhood favorite, but I would travel to eat here as well. We eat here more than any other restaurant in a year (because of the proximity to our house) and quality is pretty consistant.

We absolutely love Kouzina and highly recommend it. We haven't been there in a while, but every time we go, the food is excellent and the waitstaff is just great. I LOVE their chicken soup, I think it's called Avgolemono?? Something like that. I agree with The Trout about Sweet Basil. We haven't been able to get in lately (line too long, we're too hungry!) but the few times we've eaten there, the food was wonderful. Do check out Kouzina. Everything is so fresh and the prices are very reasonable
