Vancouver: would you suggest reservations at these?

Good Greetings,

We're going to be in Vancouver the last week of April. We've really enjoyed reading threads about Vancouver restaurants (thank you all) & have narrowed our short list for dinner to these:

The Cannery
Fish House at Stanley Park
Kibune Sushi
Octopus Garden

Would you suggest making reservations at any of those for Wednesday & Thursday nights? Thanks much. Cheers!

  1. Generally speaking, you will not need reservations on those nights.

Thanks for your quick reply, fmed. We enjoyed reading your posts on this board. Cheers!

I concur with fmed that you don't need reservations but I do have a suggestion. If you want to sit in a particular area or table and know when you want to go, you should book. For example, both Lime and Kibune are relatively small. I prefer the area at/near the bar in Lime, so you can see what's being prepped and also because it is quieter. At Kibune, you might want to reserve a bar seat in the middle of the bar for best effect, if there are two of you dining. The Cannery might warrant a reso to try to get a window table, which makes dining here go from a nice to rather spectacular experience. I like the tables to the right of the door at the Fish House as they are in a smaller anteroom. You get the picture...

Thank you, greyelf. We haven't been to Vancouver since 01. We happened into The Fish House for lunch then but didn't remember the layout, & haven't been to any of the other places. Your notes help. Cheers!
