Shared a bowl of it tonite at Sripraphai -- a light yet flavorful, aromatic broth, steaming with lime leaf, lemongrass, shallot, red onion, citrus, herbs and -- pepper and coriander seed? and a healthy assortment of cow parts. A little sour, a lot of savory, and a big roasted chili pepper floating on top. Complex. It was fabulous.

Where else can this be found?

(Not so much the Kao Soi, at least tonite. perhaps it's me).

This is just to state for the record that the tom zap with cornish hen isn't anywhere near as good as the cow tom zap. But it's still good. Just not as deeply flavored.

I wonder if any of the people who've enjoyed this at Ayada would care to weigh in on why they liked it, compared to Sri or Chao Thai~

i found the ayada one very pungent, nice "dry" taste from the lemongrass, so sour yet, with good spice as well. sure offal parts will be tastier but i liked the cornish hen one quite nice.

Discovered this at Sri too, and it's excellent (the beef offal one). There's not that much "offal" in it - just some odd cuts of beef with tendons, tiny bit of tripe, etc. There are also a lot of the seasonings floating around in the soup, you might end up with a mouth full of lemongrass or ginger or something.

Extremely flavorful but incredibly well balanced between 38734379023 flavors

Yet another great thing about Tom Zap is that it make great takeout. It will hold up two or three days in the refrigerator an, due to the chili peppers, get increasingly hot.
