I like Relish in Sparkill. In Nyack, I like Velo and Hudson House for dessert. If you are looking for no frills Mexican, you can try La Bamba, also in Sparkill

Recently went to Relish, has a new menu not the one posted on the web, also a new chef -- found this out when we got there. Went based on its reputation and a recommendation from a local, which I now know was based on its old incarnation. The menu was limited and while the space and the service was quite appealing the food, while enjoyable, was not special and, I think, it was somewhat overpriced.

I love La Bamba - a bowl of chicken tortilla soup is a meal on its own and way affordable.

There's a few more places in this recent thread too.

I am embarrased to say this but who is this Peter Kelly everyone keeps talking about? Is his food that amazing? Is it reasonably priced

The food is great - but it is not inexpensive.

shoekittykat,
Besides the restaurants, Kelly also competed on an Iron Chiefs episode, where he competed against Bobby Flay & won.

not to be a nay-sayer, but I am...i'm just not that INTO HIM (peter, that is)...my dude and i've been to x20 (dinner) X (brunch), and Freelance (lunch) and each meal was just ok- sometimes good, most times mediocre, and other times outright bad....prices are as high as you'd expect in manhattan and at each place, there were major food and service disappointments. Lackluster.

We went back to visit friends in Westchester last year. Four of us had dinner at X2O & we each had an app, entree & desert. We found are twelve items "very good" or better. The service was intensive, but not intrusive. I only have this one experience with this place & wasn't disappointed in the least.

Ive always been happy with Peter Kelly's restaurant's also. At Restaurant X, the Cote de Boeuf (on request) is amazing! So is the seared wasabi crusted tuna and the Salmon Tempura Roll. There arent many restaurants in Rockland County with very good to excellent high quality food. Peter's restaurants consistently fit this bill. The service can be spotty but I believe that's a result of a small available pool of people in Rockland that are able to serve well in a fine dining restaurant.
