Sorry it's not downtown, but Flaky Tart on Mt. Pleasant, south of Eglinton, has excellent butter tarts. You could try Senses for lemon squares or tarts.

thanks- i'll give Senses a shot, although i don't think i will make it to Flaky tart this weekend.

and whoops, sorry, i just noticed there was recently a post on lemon squares. if anyone has other ideas on lemon squares, or ideas on butter tart squares that would be great!

wow- that place looks great- but do you know if they have stuff other than what is on their menu? because menu doesn't say that they have either butter tarts or lemon squares...

Cora's butter tarts are right by the front door. $2 each last time I had one although some of their prices have increased since they opened. Not sure about lemon squares. Excellent pizza squares on Iranian flatbread, tho.

Sweet Bliss on Queen East near Jones (?) has good butter tarts, too. Bigger and $3 IIRC.
