Please help. Where can I get some good gumbo, andouille sausage, and beignets?

Prefer to keep it below 14th St if possible.

Redhead has gumbo on the menu, but I haven't tried it so I can't attest to its quality.

Shark Bar on Amsterdam bwt 74 and 75 has terrific New Orleans/soul food. They've been there for years and are always busy, II hardly ever see them mentioned on this board..I love the gumbo and the shrimp estouffe, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Wow. I haven't been there for years. I used to love in the pre-2000 years, but my last trip there in 2001 was only ok. Have you been there recently?

while it isn't gourmet great, i always enjoy acme. fun places better than just decent food, good beer, and an amazing assortment of hot sauces lining the walls that are not just for decoration

Great Jones is pretty solid, i've had the gumbo there twice, and I was a fan both times.

I've heard nothing but bad things about Mara's, so its probably skip-able.

I'd skip Mara's, as well. I was underwhelmed by their food, especially given that the owners are from Dallas and Arkansas.
