We're in the process of replacing our slowly dying Amana wall oven and cooktop combo, and we've decided to do some minor construction to make way for a slide-in or free standing range in their place. We're looking to spend somewhere in the $2500-$3k range, and we like the pro-style ranges that we've seen. Our initial thought was to get the 30-inch dual-fuel Bosch Integra 700 series, which prices out around $2500, but after reading these forums for the past few days, I've seen a lot about the 30-inch Bertazzoni gas range, which admittedly is pretty fantastic looking and falls into the same price category.

However, I've also seen a number of concerns raised. Small oven, "quirky" starting, excessive heat from the front, etc. I don't have preference regarding electric vs. gas ovens, and after the number of times I've had to replace the electronics modules in my current electric oven, I like the idea of a more minimalist setup. We do a lot of cooking, and the majority of our oven use is for roasting, braising, and pizza making. Those with Bertazzoni's seem to love them, but would we be giving up anything by buying one over the Bosch? What are we gaining, other than stunning good looks? Any experience or advice is appreciated!

I also am looking in this same price range... .but am trying to pick b/w Bertazzoni, Electrolux, and GE Cafe. I am most drawn to the looks of the Bertazzoni, and since I don't bake much, the possibly difficult temperature knob on the it doesn't bother me.

I have only read positive reviews about Bertazzoni -- does anyone disagree?

To Pcarpen and Lamlex:

I am looking at Bertazzoni ranges and am wondering if either of you ended up getting one?

Thanks for any info!

having just replaced our range, i know your pain *L*, although we did not see much written about it we ended up with a frigidaire 30" professional. it is really a home unit however, have only had it about a month but so far very impressed, we do a fair amount of basic cooking and basic baking. so far very happy with it . bertazzoni looks terrific but pricey and as i recall had a few trade-offs, but i am not sure as i only looked at them briefly, possibly not self cleaning (?) anyway frigidaire is same company as electrolux and seems very good, early on. good luck
