East Village/Union Sq. Area- Need Good Spot with Grilled Fish/ Steak Options

ChowDiva Feb 18, 2009 06:08 AM

I am trying to follow the South Beach Diet so that I can fit into my wedding dress in a couple of months. This is my first time going out to eat and would like to go somewhere that has a good choice of protein options. Would love a round of clams or oysters on the half shell for an appetizer and a nice lean steak or piece of grilled fish for dinner. Should have some good choices for my friend who is not concerned with diet and entrees under $25. Any ideas?

Good thinking. I'm also thinking that some of the Italian restaurants could work. For example, Supper has good pollo arrosto and so forth, but the difficulty is that they tend to use a lot of butter, and side dishes are often potatoes (but they might substitute).

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, ChowDiva!

Thanks for the suggestion of Pylos. It was perfect! The scallop and octopus appetizers were wonderful. I had the grilled whole fish which was fresh and fabulous.

Momofuku Ssam Bar if you order carefully. They won't tempt you by putting bread on your table either!
