597108 Tue Feb 17 20:58:01 -0800 2009 2 2 Los Angeles Area 0 4427390 Love Europane (Pasadena) and all their delish pastries, but I was there in the rain this morning and felt a hankering for "hot cereal" which was written up as a special. I thought that was a generic term and ordered outmeal, but they said it was a "7-grain hot cereal - more like grits." Well I'm a Southern girl and went for it. I'm not all that picky, but this was either truly dreadful or maybe just unlike anything I've ever had. It was served in a plastic 2-compartment tray as for airline food w/slices of fruit on one side and this thin, milky , tasteless soup w/a few teaspoons of grains on the bottom of the other side. Is it just me or is this stuff awful? Grits would have been an improvement. Since I'd never ordered anything but pastry at Europane I was too much of a wimp to send it back, plus I was w/a guest so I didn't want to make a fuss. Am I missing something? I asked some of the servers whose opinions I trust and they all uniformly hate it and have warned me away from trying it. Not everything is to everyone's taste though.... Try the egg salad sometime.
