Restaurant Su (Turkish)?

I'll be in Montreal for a few days and have been reading about both Restaurant Su and Avesta. It seems to me from looking at Su's website (can't seem to find one for Avesta), and reading about the food at both, that Restaurant Su is serving more Ottoman "palace" cuisine, while the food at Avesta is more casual, leaning towards grilled items.

Has anyone been to Restaurant Su lately? I've got extreme cravings for good imam bayildi and hunkar begendi. I know they're on the menu, but are they good?

  1. Hi tatai, you are right Avesta is more cafe than a restaurant. I live in Verdun area where restaurant su is located. Thus I am one of their regulars. It strongly recommend it. I do not remember if they have some thing called imam bayildi but their hunkar begendi is very good. Try their Manti too. They added a new dish to their menu called iskender kebab. Perfecty seasoned lamp. Anyway go and let me know what do you think.

    1. sorry for the late reply,

avesta is like a cafe, it's one of my favorite palces to eat downtown but it is not comparable to Su. Su is amazing. I had the hunkar begendi there and i can tell you it is one of the most delicious things i have ever eaten.

      I hope you have fun.

      1. Thanks for your replies. We didn't end up going to Su, due to lousy weather the night we were supposed to go. During the same trip, we had a fabulous meal at DNA and a good, but not amazing, meal at Au Pied de Cochon. We loved the foie gras poutine and the Plogue a Champlain (which I'd had on a previous visit), but were not totally enamoured with the pied de cochon and the guinea hen.
