Bakery in the City?

I'm looking for a place to buy either a cake, cupcakes, or any good baked treats to give for a work birthday celebration. I'm sick of M&S, Waitrose, Tescos and I think Patisserie Valerie might be too expensive.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks so much.

  1. Maybe check out some of the recommendations from TimeOut's Best London Bakeries feature: http://www.timeout.com/london/restaur...

Crumbs & Doilies are very good - http://www.crumbsanddoilies.co.uk/

There are lots of really good cupcake links and reccs on this thread:

Let us know where and what you choose!

    1. There's Konditor and Cook at the base of the Gherkin, not cheap tho'.

Le Pain Quotidien on Bread Street (not been).

The stuff from the various branches of Paul is not bad.

There's a branch of an artisan bakery on Carter Lane (they also have a branch at Borough Market) but I'm blanking on the name.

      1. If you're near covent garden check out primrose bakery - they do fabulous cakes (regular size and mini) and also do layer cakes which I believe are reasonably priced!

I can give you loads of cupcake suggestions but I think they're already in the thread below!
