Going through withdrawal pains from weekend in Victoria
The highlight of our weekend in Victoria was not our Valentine's Day dinner or the gorgeous sunny weather we had. It was the two meals we had from Red Fish Blue Fish at the harbour. Their Thai fish chowder was absolutely wonderful - spicy, tangy, loaded with fresh fish, and their spicy fish tacones were equally as good. The little restaurant in a shipping container on the inner harbour is spotlessly clean, very eco friendly and their food is second to none. Can't wait to go back!
I would love to travel back to Victoria and really enjoy the food scene. In a very complicated chain of events, the hotel we ended up at inlcuded meals - horrible idea we will never let our mother (the planner) live down. Anyway, times were tougher for us then. :)
We enjoyed an off the beaten path tea room for high tea and my husband still dreams of their steak and kidney pie. What a great place...Red Fish will be on our list if we return!
Red Fish Blue Fish was the second-last time I broke my vow of vegetarianism for fish and chips, back in the summer of 2006. It was worth it! :)
that's awesome.. i just had red fish blue fish for the first time last friday because we were taking guests from ontario around downtown victoria. we had the pacific fish spicy tacones and the halibut fish and chips. the tacones are great!! i really like the marinating sauce they use and their cole slaw is pretty tasty too. the battered fish is good as well.... the batter is not too thick, like some other places i've been to where it's so thick that it's kind of too much after a while to eat.
