Breakfast between Jackson, MI & Chicago?

Looking for any breakfast finds between Jackson and Chicago for an upcoming trip. Family friendly, affordable, relatively near the route, and of course yumminess are all factors.

  1. We stopped for lunch last year at the Waffle House of America, and it would probably meet all of your factors. This is not to be confused with the Waffle House chain. It's right off 94 in Lawrence, MI, which I want to say is somewhere west of Kalamazoo. Waffles are their specialty, but even though we didn't sample them, our sandwiches were great, so I'm betting their breakfasts would be good as well. It's also very clean, which is a plus when traveling.

The Waffle House of America restaurant you're referring to is at Exit 52 and has a website at They have (had?) a second restaurant in Watervliet at Exit 41, but I don't know if it's still there. I've stopped at either of those two Waffle House of America restaurants numerous times and I never realized that it was a different chain! The waffles were always good.

You can find breakfast recommendations for the Benton Harbor area in the discussion at

There are a couple of breakfast recommendations in the Kalamazoo topic at

    2. Food Dance Cafe in Kalamazoo. Its about an eight minute drive off the freeway but well worth it. It's along the main drag in downtown Kalamazoo. You wont be disappointed.

Yup, that's one of the places mentioned in the Kzoo topic... (although the opinions expressed there are mixed, one positive and one negative)
